Marina Bay Sand Hotel stay 9-10 april 2011

dear's friend's friend worked in MBS..

so we manage to get discounted price for MBS stay..

she's gona quit soon, so we quickly go try it out..

suppose to book Atrium Room as its the cheapest room.

but fully booked.. 

from site, the room cost $400+ to $500+ depending on date booked..

thru fr, only $150/nite.

anyway end up we got better room- Horizon room

of cos need to pay more.. end up pay $300/nite..

difference between atrium n horizon is horizon rooms r in higher level..

also means better view..

but room design n style mostly same same..

so if u wana stay there for the view, can book "horizon", also ask for "city view"

but if u wana experience only, n dun wana pay more, then go for "atrium" 

the moment we reach, we cant find the carpark for hotel..

apparently, either u park at casino carpark, and walk all the way to hotel with lugguage

or 

use the valet parking at hotel lobby..

this is the not user friendly valet parking n taxi area... 

to stay in hotel, car must park valet.. $12 for 24hrs, unlimited in n out..

 if park at the casino area, its $6 per entry..

the ugly wall design 1.. 

the person say this painting cost 2million!!

 i can paint better la.. 

also this is the chk in Q.

 chk in is 3pm, i propose start Queueing at 2+pm..

 WORST thing is, although we chk in, we wont be able to go into room until DUNO wat time.. 

cos they unable to estimate wat time the room will be ready!??!?! 

i keep asking them for an estimate time, so can jaga wat to do during the wait..

the person keep saying "sorry, i really cant give an estimated time"

?!?!?!?!?!?!?! faint..

they'll call us to inform us the rm is ready.

 when chk in, rem tell them u want City View..

else u may end up facing the construction..

then totally defeats the purpose le.. 

reason for delay of room is the room is not ready yet..

from useful source, the cleaning aunty takes abt 1-1.5 hrs to clean a room.

n 1 level only have 1 aunty...

tats why the long wait ba...

if lucky, may have a room fast la..

anyway we ended up going into room at 530pm. 

meanwhile, we put our barang barang at conceirge..

music...

we book 2 rooms..

1 us, 1 parents..

end up MIL ask sis n kids n MIL's sis from m'sia..

good la.. a simple wkend getaway..

but 7 of them stay 1 room..

me n dear.. just the 2 of us..

dear queueing..

at least they got serve juice while queueing..

nice though..

do apply the free "premier advantage card" @ tower 3 area.

Gym is shd go... its located at tower 2, level 55...

there's nothing much to do at MBS..

so the gym n swimming is a must go..

gym view.

not crowded.. think not many ppl know..

every workout equipment got towel n bottled drink.. 

so no need bring.

if u need more water, can take here.. haha

there got ear pc with a disposable wrap.. 

its my first time exercising after my illness

swimming pool is at level 57..

all tower 1,2,3 can access to pool..

must swim day n nite to experience the main feature of this hotel..

dont waste time go shopping..

shopping can be done even without room...

so must go pool to the max..

unless got little kids climb over.. 

but got life guard there to jaga.. 

they ask kids go to kids pool with glass wall protection..

jus wana dip in water...

floor plan looks big.. but actually is not so big when walk..

this is the ONLY reason to stay in this hotel.. 

just to experience the "falling"/"endless" pool.. 

only hotel guest then can go swimming..

if u r not hotel guest.. 

need to pay $20/pax to go up sky park..

so when sign up the free member card, got 10% discount..

so so only...jap disney sea's water show much nicer..

 highly recommend this restaurant..

overall, i feel that the hotel is over rated..

chking in is a disappointment...

swimming pool n gym not bad..

other then this, nothing much to do there..

go casino n shows dun need to stay in hotel..

abit heart pain to spend total $600 for 2 rooms for 1 nite..

cos i think not worth it..

wont wana go stay again..

I was expecting a lot more and i must say that being in the hotel industry myself i was desapointed by a few things, first the rooms are not designed for asian, no water bidet system or water spay in the toilette and thatis an issue in asia, also in our room water pressure in the bathroom was very low and that is for me a no no.... Room are big and bed confortable, but that is all the positive side.
most restaurants and cafes are not yet opened
and capacity of coffee shop is too small so you end up waiting like at the bus stop....
my son picked that hotel as he likes ti try new hotels all the time, but really we get better stay in hotels half the price in singapore. Pool is spectacular, but as outsider can visit for the attraction you end up relazing on the side of the pool with bus load of tourist behind you taking photo. So as i come to singapore on regular basis, i must say that i maybe will try again next year when all is opened...... Then again maybe not

So you won't be looking for asian authenticity or personal service if you book this hotel - you'll be looking for the in spot, the designer shops and the fabulous rooftop pool which is impressive everytime you arrive at it. Built on a grand Las Vegas style you lose the personal service but gain great facilities and everything under one roof if you include the shoppes (weirdly spelt in the olde English style) Rooms are great and comfortable with 2 double beds for a family of four with lots of space and great bathrooms. Toiletries not great for a 5 start hotel and nor was the majority of service. Very friendly buy lacked polish and what looked like experience. Servitude no replacement for great service delivered cooly. Had a good stay and the children loved it.
