Went see ah ma today...
somehow we chatted abt her self-'brewed' medicine...
蛇草酒...
this 蛇草酒 is really fantastic...
i've used it since young time..
its super bitter... suppose to 轻热 & 解毒..

ah ma was from china n did farming when very young...
so tend to know some old chinese recipe..

-whenever there's swollen feet (maybe bitten by some bugs)..
can apply 蛇草酒..
-when heaty, can drink 蛇草酒..
-when skin ichy... can apply 蛇草酒
-when throat pain, can drink 蛇草酒...
-many more misc la...

she always tell me things like my uncles/aunts/her frs where n where pain/swollen/bitten..
& when they apply/drink this 蛇草酒...
they do recover...
sometimes even doctors cant resolve...
isn't it amazing..
haha..

How is it 'brewed'??

1) ah ma self grow the leaves... at corridor...
n some ppl do come & steal leh...
they so 识货 ah..

close-up... looks like normal leaves.. but its super bitter!2) then she'll dry it under the sun n it becomes this..
3) then she'll mix with 'rice wine' (also can mix abit of liquor in)...

then can take few sips if need be...

to be more trifty, ah ma mixed with vinegar if its for exterior use..

蛇草酒.. this is mixed in rice wine+abit liqour...

can see the dried grass contents inside? -----------------------------------------------------

ah ma got another specialty...

her own 凉茶...

the leaves (in teochew) is call "zu wee lang"

she grew it herself too... all at corridor...

some older generation ppl also ask from ah ma for these leaves...

its suppose to boil in water & boil till water becomes purple...

then add some sugar...

then its the nice yummy 凉茶..

i had it frequently since young till now...

i'm surprise to see ready-made salads in ntuc.. can jus buy off rack n eat..

-grapes (purple n green).. to add some nice taste to boring salad

-thousand island sauce... will put abit only..

-dried raisin...

am boiling the corn while preparing my salad....
MIL said put some salt into water while boiling corn so tat corn will remian sweet..
& its true!
e corn is sweet n nice... this will be my new 'titbit'....
easy to prepare n healthy..

after all the wash wash n cut cut...
finally presenting my lunch... @ 3+pm.. haha..
lettuce, grapes, dried raisin, tomato, carrot, cherrie tomato..
no cucumber cos duno where's the 'peeler' to peel the skin..

after eating this... i feel quite full...
but not very satisfied... cos too healthy tasting..

mum-in-law's bro n wife came sg mon til thur... & they're staying with us...

uncle is m'sian & age 55... (he's got nice features.. must be very handsome when he's young)

his purpose of coming is to take out his monies in CPF board..

he's not sg PR but got CPF leh...

Many many yrs old CPF board do allow m'sian to have CPF in sg...

He worked in sg ard 1973-1976.. i'm not born yet oh...

his job did contribute CPF even though he's not PR...

he worked only 3 yrs back then & eventually went back to m'sia..

Apparently, CPF board do give them interest as per normal.. compound ard 30+ yrs...

this time he's able to take back ard S$4000+...

not bad lah.. ard 10K ringgit..

last time his salary is only few hundreds & only for 3 yrs...

30 mins ago, i made a teh-O.
the moment i stepped into living room, the glass suddenly broke into half n drop to the floor.
funny.. its not b'cos i accidentally drop the glass.. it jus break into half..

the first thot is "wah lau"... sian.. goto clean up..
esp have to b careful the glass fragments mite fly duno where...
but while cleaning up & mopping the living room...
i feel tat actually i'm lucky leh...

1) Imagine the glass broke when i'm inside my room...
it'll me more troublesome to clear.. cos got bags n forms on the floor..
at least i dun need to clean my bags...
somemore bedroom is small n cramp... harder to find the fragments ah..

2) Living room is spacious and jus nice glass drop in the middle of it..
so really easier to clean up... easier to find fragments too...

3) I'm also thankful that i din cut myself when the glass broke...

4) Lucky i'm making Teh-O & not milo... else more difficult to clean up....

So come to think of it...
i'm really lucky n i'm thankful oh...

have not cycled for 10 yrs...
abit rusty liao... not so agile..

its very easy to go Pulau Ubin...
just go to changi village... changi jetty....
the boat trip cos $2.50..
then Pulau Ubin... here i come!

Some things to take note when go pulau ubin...
1) wear comfortable, cos cycling... shorts n singlet...no jeans.. elso too hot..
2) vain me, put on abit of make up.... actually no need make up... will perspire one..
3) best to ride a bicycle, cos walking cant cover the whole island.. my bike rent $7 whole day... a good one for guys is $11-$12... must rent got gear one... up-slope easier..
4) wear sneaker/sports shoe... may be abit dirty cos got muddy track.. actually slipper also can la.. but maybe not so comfy..
5) bring small sling bag or back pack... i brought a medium size sling bag... troublesome while cycling..
6) bring mosquito repellent.. definitely handy... i din gana a single mosquito bite.. hehe.. heng ah..
7) bring own lunch.. maybe bread etc... only jetty got food...
8) bring own water... there's vending machine at some areas.. but still good to bring own water.. can drink as n when needed.. need to drink lots of water oh...

-brake is for braking back tire... right brake is safer to brake when going downslope...
-the gears 1-7. normal road use gear 6-7. going upslope, drop gear 5 to 4 to 3 etc...
really helps alot oh... i dun need to cycle till xiao...

see the cycling track... must be careful oh... quite accident prone i feel...
on the way, there's rambutan!

while waiting for others to reach.. we jus relax n enjoy th breeze...

on the way, we saw mud skipper...

wa.. good to bring kids for excursion oh...
